Sachin Tendulkar”, is not just a name but a hymn, a solemn prayer. Sachin is this years India's best bet and only hope and faith for winning the World Cup this year. Our maestro wants to win it for the fans and the other players say, “We will win the world cup this year for Sachin”. At the age of 37, the Little Master is still playing with great precision, skill and perfection. This Living Legend has played 5 consecutive world cups and this year's would be sixth.

Sachin’s Past Performances


On 11 December 1988, aged just 15 years and 232 days, Tendulkar scored 100 not out in his debut first-class match for Bombay against Gujarat, making him the youngest Indian to score a century on first-class debut. He followed this by scoring a century in his first Deodhar and Duleep Trophy. He was picked by the Mumbai captain Dilip Vengsarkar after seeing him negotiate Kapil Dev in the nets and finished the season as Bombay's highest run-scorer.

Sachin made an unbeaten century in the Irani Trophy final and was selected for the tour of Pakistan next year, after just one first class season. His first double century was for Mumbai while playing against the visiting Australian team at the Brabourne Stadium in 1998. He is the only player to score a century in all three of his Ranji Trophy, Duleep Trophy and Irani Trophy debuts.

In 1992, at the age of 19, Tendulkar became the first overseas born player to represent Yorkshire. Tendulkar played 16 first-class matches for the county and scored 1070 runs at an average of 46.52 winning the award for the “best cricketer” that year.

*Sachin impressed the world with his centuries against Australia in Sydney in Perth in the 1991-92 series.

*Tendulkar is the first player to score fifty Test centuries, and the first to score fifty centuries in all international cricket combined; he now has 97 centuries in international cricket.

*On 17 October 2008, when he surpassed Brian Lara's record for the most runs scored in Test cricket, he also became the first batsman to score 12,000, 13,000 and 14,000 runs in that form of the game, having also been the third batsman and first Indian to pass 11,000 runs in Test cricket.

In 2002, just 12 years into his career, Wisden ranked him the second greatest Test batsman of all time, behind Donald Bradman, and the second greatest one-day-international (ODI) batsman of all time, behind Viv Richards.

He is the leading run-scorer and century maker in Test and one-day international cricket. He is the only male player to score a double century in the history of ODI cricket.

In September 2007, the Australian leg spinner Shane Warne rated Tendulkar as the greatest player he has played with or against. Tendulkar was the only player of the current generation to be included in Bradman's Eleven.

Holds the record for scoring 1,000 ODI runs in a calendar year. He has done it seven times - 1994, 1996, 1997, 1998, 2000, 2003,2007, 2008

*Tendulkar is the only batsman to score over 3000 runs against any opponent (Australia). Tendulkar is also the only batsman to achieve the feat runs against 2 opponents - Sri Lanka is the other team.

*Tendulkar holds the record for the most fours ( boundaries ) in an innings. He hit 25 fours in the innings against South Africa on on 24th February 2010 when he scored double century.

*There are many awards and accomplishments to Sachin's credit. Some of them include Wisden Cricketer of the Year, Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna, Arjuna Award, Padma Shri and Padma Vibhushan.

*Sachin is also presently the group captain of Indian Air Force.
