SACHIN TENDULKAR

It was 24 of April 1973 and the house of a well known Marathi novelists was pampered with celebrations of the birth of a third son in the family. Nobody knew that the youngest sibling of late Sh. Ramesh Tendulkar will one day set 'Sky as the Limit' and make the country proud. Born in Mumbai (then Bombay) into a middle-class family, Sachin Tendulkar is a pillar of an unmatched success attained by his own devotion, passion and love for the game of cricket.

In a splendid career extending over two decades, Sachin has broken almost every record of cricket history. He has actually redefined the English proverb “Records are meant to be broken by Sachin”. From domestic circuit to the international arena, no record seems to be untouched by the little master. Sachin Tendulkar, the brightest star in the world of cricket has achieved his greatest prices with his intellectual and skillful cricketing brains.

*Sachin is ambidextrous. He bats with his right hand but signs autographs and eats or plays table tennis with his left.

* Tendulkar sponsors 200 under-privileged children every year through Apnalaya, a Mumbai-based NGO.

* Sachin is the only Indian cricketer to reach Madams Tussauds museum with his statue standing tall.

*Virgin Comics is launching a series of comic books featuring Sachin Tendulkar as a superhero.

* It had taken Tendulkar 79 ODI's to score a century.

* In school, Tendulkar took immense pride in his long curly hair, and was once mistaken for a girl by good friend and fellow cricketer Atul Ranade.
