India's very own - Kathakali

It is indeed a treat to watch the brilliant dance form of Kathakali. The literal translation of Kathakali is a 'Story presented in a dance form' and is counted amongst the most ancient forms of theatre known to mankind.

The beautiful dance form of Kathakali originates from the state of Kerala in India and truly brings out the richness as showcased in India's diversity. Kathakali performances usually revolve around the ancient Indian scriptures such as the Ramayana and Mahabharatha which are a unique heritage in their own respect.

This dance form is an excellent combination of great story-telling, costumes, make-up, dance, facial expressions, etc. The eye for detail put into the make-up, costume and the dance mudras (steps) is definitely the highlight of this spectacular dance performance.

We hope we can preserve such gems from the rich history of India for the coming generations.
