The Era of Economic Progression, or Humanitarian Regression

We are living in a world that has become materialistic to its core. Instead of moral values, one can find the Jungle law being practiced – Survival of the fittest. Among the hustle and bustle of the city, when one has to be on the toes 24x7, who cares for humanity. In this hullabaloo of fighting with my conscious over this humanitarian debate, I experienced phantasmagoria of the time when I was in class 6. It was from my history book, wherein I had mastered the chapter on Lord Buddha – of course for my exams. In the chapter, I had learnt about the eight fold paths of Buddhism, that Lord Buddha preached for a good living. Today, sadly these teachings have become obsolete. The world claims to move forward, but I am of the opinion that we are going absolutely the opposite way. A nation, where people are too engrossed to know about its rich historical past, is nothing but cursory.

There were eight of them – the Eight Noble Paths. They arose from the sufferings experienced by the son of a king, who gave up all the comforts to attain the path of right living. It were these ways that turned a mere prince Siddharth into Lord Buddha.

The teachings of Lord Buddha are very much applicable in today's time. Sometimes, it appears to me, that they was written for this era actually. My points will become more explicit once we start applying and comparing these teachings to our present scenario. The humans should a Right View toward the different human being, which can hatred and jealousy - that has become a very common gesture in humans. The path of Right Intention aims human beings to conduct good deeds and eventually it will act as a boomerang to them as happiness. Right Speech is the way you can win the hearts as well as the trust of people. Right Action, ensure that whatever you do is for the sake of honesty and at the end, it will you, become a better person. It is the Right Livelihood that makes a person understand the advertises of life, thus reducing economical imbalances. Right Mindfulness will let a person have clarity of thoughts and vision, thus help in combating anti social activities. Last but not the least, Right Concentration will help amalgamate all the wholesome thoughts into action. It is these path that once mastered can make a person free of all the worldly vicious desires and selfish acts.

These noble eight paths are interconnected, as following one will lead to tailing the others. We need to implement these eight path for a better living, as it is very applicable to the present scenario. There is not a better time to follow these norms, than today. It might have been a part of moral lesson a few years ago, but today it is a global requisite. If we want to save the society and hence ourselves, we should start incorporate these teachings in our actions. This way we can aim of making this world a happier place to live in.

I completely agree to what you have written...but don't you think that someone should take the initiative to light the torch...After all, Revolution begins with you and I.
