India Verdict on LGBT

Rights v/s 'Social Ethos'

The verdict on Article 377 is out after a good debate in the High Court and a 105-page judgement. The High Court bench comprising Chief Justice Ajit Prakash Shah and Justice Muralidhar was of the view that there is a serious need to amend Article 377 as it stood in direct confrontation with the Article 21 of the Indian Constitution which clearly states that:

"
No person shall be deprived of his life or personal liberty except according to procedure established by law."

This verdict by the High Court bench comes out as an important landmark judgement for the struggle put up by various LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender) communities.

There are clearly two schools of thought on this issue. People who think that there is a need to give a Freedom of Choice to every individual v/s People who advocate cultural corrosion.

We would like to garner feedback from our readers as to what their views are on the subject of homosexuality in India.

We value your thoughts, so keep it flowing...
