One Stop Shop For Whole India

If you are a Delhite and an ardent shopper, you will know what November of every year brings. Of course it is the start of winters and brings along pleasant weather for shopping but this is also the month of International Trade Fair. This year too, it started with the same vigor and fanfare. Many expected that the global financial crisis will effect the turnout through out the event. However, the first day of the fair couldn't have proved us more wrong. The participation by either the exhibitor or the consumer was not low.

The Venue for International Trade Fair in Delhi is Pragati Maidan, a gigantic compound with huge halls. Some of the halls here are dedicated to different states. In others, there are different companies exhibiting their present products and what they plan for the future.

Every year there is a special theme, on which the fair is based. 2008 International Trade Fair is based on two themes; Infrastructure development and Women empowerment. There is also a partner state, focus state, partner country and focus region every year. This year partner state is Orissa whereas the focus state is Kerala. The partner country is Pakistan and focus region is ASEAN countries whcih consists of Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Laos, Cambodia and Brunei Darussalam.

For serious shoppers, it is advised that they visit this fair as quickly as possible after the start. After few days the crowd starts to swell and it becomes near to impossible to take your own time to shop. Besides one day always seems less when there is so much to see and so much to buy. And for a traveler, what better way to visit every state of the country, explore culture of all the states and shop for unique locally made items, in just a day or two. A Dream realized for sure.
